Living in the danger zone

Well, crap,....D just called me briefly,...outside of a meeting, about to go in. He rode in a car on the way to a meeting with some guys that live in his halfway house. However, on the way to the meeting....the car stopped at a housing project area, where the driver and one of the other guys in the car went into the building,...not for too long, and came back to the car. : ( Apparently, D and the other 2 guys left in the car just sat and waited, no one saying anything about the "purpose" of the short stop. He said, Mom,...I came here to get better, not to be around this....I need to go to a different halfway house. I agree. He's only been there 2 days.....ugh.

  1. I don't know why it has to be so difficult to find safe places for the addicts that sincerely want out of it and away from it. I hope a solution can be found that works for him.

  2. Are you sure he is telling you the WHOLE story?
Do they drug test at this house? If not, I would move him. If they do test, those guys will be removed quickly.

  3. I know they put these places in bad areas.. I have always wondered why. Then I watched Cele Rehab.. and they put them there, cause it's cheaper, and they have to learn to say no. Maybe D can ride that new bike you got him instead of getting a ride in a car? Hugs, Kelly

  4. yep....he is riding the bike,...but not to the meetings, they're quite a farther distance. He called tonight and has a VERY positive attitude, and is going to just do his best to avoid those specific guys if at all possible, since a number of them per day go to meetings. The guy that runs the house is very good though and doesn't know about the other ones that stopped to pick up. D doesn't feel that he should say anything....because honestly, he's afraid of those guys...they're the ones that just came from prison and are pretty rough.
