It's bad

I'm too tired right now, physically & otherwise to do this all justice, but will write more tomorrow or the next day. However,..D's on a run right now in a big way,...on crack. He's been doing it for weeks now,...the first time he'd ever done it was a few weeks ago when I posted it. He took off on it like wildfire & is totally unable to stop at this point. It makes me sick writing that. He's cried,,..etc., & does agree he needs to go to treatment & says he'll go. We'll see, but he MUST. The woman who owns the sober living house where he'd been called me earlier this evening,..told me she saw him,..he looked bad. She said,..we're gonna get him out of here & into treatment as fast as we can. He IS going. Crack happened to have been her DOC, way back when,..before she started being an angel to other addicts. I love that woman. D's also got some guys there that are trying to help him too. He's very fortunate in that way. He's also recently burned some bridges in that respect. No surprise.

I'm just sick about it all,..& right now, also afraid for him, out there tonight. AND,..I have no idea where he should go, where, which one ? It's a maze. This will be his 5th rehab.

Please pray for him tonight, & I'm praying for yours. Also,..any recommendations on treatment facilities would be appreciated, but we can't spend $25,000 or more dollars. (or any thousands). Those days are gone. He is covered by Tricare insurance.

Thank you for any suggestions on the treatment place...

  1. St. Christopher's rehab in Garrison, NY. It is a wonderful program. It is inpatient but charged as outpatient. That is the key. 90 day program and then you move to sober living. A few young men I know went there and also my son. However, my son walked after 10 days. The other young men did well. My son had been in a Rehab/boarding school for the last 2 years of high school and has been in numerous programs..crack being one of his drugs.

  2. I am so sorry, Lori. D is in my prayers. My only suggestion would be teen challenge, as that program is a year or more. I don't know how much it costs.

We have a place called Dawn Farm in Michigan. It is a working farm. He would have to work the farm as part of his rehab. I believe the program is 90 days and extends 6 months to 2 years in sober living. I know a few kids who have been really successful through that program.

I'm so sorry you are back in this crap.

  3. I am so sorry! For all of you! The good new is he willing to go get help! I had posted my list of "free" rehabs. If you want to email me, I can try to help more. I know the names of who to contact, etc. I am not sure the Dawn Farm in MI is still open? I had just heard about something about it, but can't remember. Feel free to email me: kelrish@aol.com

Meanwhile you all be in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs, Kelly

  7. Dawn Farm is alive and well, but does not accept insurance. They don't want to be subject to the regulations imposed by insurance companies. They also don't do medical detox, they subscribe to the theory addicts learn a huge lesson from detoxing the hard way (but with supervision, of course). My son had to sweat it out without meds several times, and he says that memory sticks with you.

(Rehabs try to tell you that is life threatening, but addicts on the street go cold turkey all the time when they get thrown in jail or run out of dope.)

If you choose to get involved, you should not agree to finance/co pay a cushy place. Just my opinion. I pray he gets himself in soon!
