BUT THE GOOD NEWS is how he and you guys handled it! Obvioulsy he was very upset with himself which would be a great excuse to run out and use even more. But he's taking good steps in the right direction. I hope he did go get a white chip. Using once, imo, is a slip up not a full blown relapse. I hope Stacey leaves him alone and that he meets a new girl that is not bossy.

Thinking of you, sweetie!Bar L.https://www.blogger.com/profile/11100008292699584336noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901597967659101042.post-50715613748858552632012-01-30T10:50:10.472-05:002012-01-30T10:50:10.472-05:00Praying for all of you!Praying for all of you!Terrihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07043952479034521550noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901597967659101042.post-91939152533281366312012-01-30T10:22:33.152-05:002012-01-30T10:22:33.152-05:00He stopped himself from a full blown run. We always get our information after we corner him on something he absolutely can't deny...but would if he could.notmyboyhttp://www.notmyboy.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901597967659101042.post-15408963131245706852012-01-30T05:48:03.212-05:002012-01-30T05:48:03.212-05:00Addiction is a recurring, relapsing disease. That is really rare. Most do exactly what your son, my son, and countless addicts and alcoholics everywhere do. They screw up, and start over. It's how fast you catch yourself, it's being accountable to your group in NA/AA, to people who trust who, to having feelings of shame and doing something about it, that is "recovery." D has learned another way to handle his problems, he has tools. That doesn't mean he won't revert to using drugs to handle problems. But he knows what to do, who to call, instead of running away (to drugs) like he used to. This is called a "self limiting" relapse, meaning he stopped himself. It's a good thing, not bad news.

I don't think counting days is as important as actions. That is great he called you, he trusts you. D will figure it out (or not). The only kind of clean time that lasts is the kind they do for themselves.

It's awesome you guys didn't freak out! Everyone is learning as they go...prayers to you and dad and D.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901597967659101042.post-1497669838872239472012-01-29T23:55:03.524-05:002012-01-29T23:55:03.524-05:00I'm praying for D and your family!
